MEDYFINOL 2026 conference series

MEDYFINOL 2026 is part of the MEDYFINOL conference series, which was conceived in 1986 to bring together researchers in nonequilibrium statistical mechanics and dynamical systems, mainly in Argentina and neighboring countries, and to broaden its scope to attract colleagues from all over the world. 40 years have elapsed, and we can ascertain that MEDYFINOL is doing the right thing in the international community as one of the most important regular meetings in the field.

This year, MEDYFINOL 2026 will take place in Santiago de Chile at the foothills of the Andes.

Universidad de los Andes has opened their doors to the scientific community.

We encourage active participation from young scientists through invited and contributed oral presentations and poster sessions.
We warmly invite you to participate in this event.

This MEDYFINOL 2026 follows a series of meetings that took place in Caraguatatuba, Brazil (2024); Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay (2022); Santiago de Chile (2018), Valdivia, Chile (2016); Maceió, Brazil (2014); Santiago, Chile (2012); Punta de Este, Uruguay (2008); Mar del Plata, Argentina (2006); La Serena, Chile (2004); Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay (2002); Huerta Grande, Córdoba (1999); Canela, Brazil (1997); Tucumán, Argentina (1996); San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina (1995); Montevideo, Uruguay (1994); Mar del Plata, Argentina (1993); Mar del Plata, Argentina (1991); Santiago de Chile, Chile (1990); Puerto Iguazú, Argentina (1989); Mar del Plata, Argentina (1988); Lujan, Argentina (1987); and Lujan, Argentina (1986).

Statistical Mechanics and Nonlinear Physics are research areas that have developed a multidisciplinary character, with many applications in biology, physiology, ecology, economics, sociology, and other fields. The scientific problems discussed in the meeting included image characterization, biological applications of statistical physics, econophysics and sociologically related issues, chaos, and nonlinear dynamics, pattern formation and spatio-temporal complexity, fluids and granular media, nonextensive thermostatistics, irreversible thermodynamics, stochastic processes, phase transitions, lasers and nonlinear optics, synchronization, wavelets and nonlinear time series analysis, complex networks, neuronal and brain dynamics.

The purpose of the MEDYFINOL series of meetings is to keep the Latin American scientific community informed about new developments and trends in statistics and nonlinear physics, to incentivize international collaborative science programs, and to identify and discuss the most relevant issues in the field. The success of the MEDYFINOL meeting series is due to the presence of eminent speakers, the high-quality contributions from the papers, and significant student participation.
